Cherie Sibley

A native of Southern Louisiana. She received a BFA with honors from Louisiana State University. Her career has included Graphic Design (before and after the advent of computers), Art Direction, Marketing, Advertising, Real Estate and Fine Arts.

A native of Southern Louisiana and married to a Canadian, Cherie lives six months in the Okanagan, British Columbia, and six months in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Art has been central to her life from her formative years. She received a BFA with honors from Louisiana State University. Her career has included Graphic Design (before and after the advent of computers), Art Direction, Marketing, Advertising, Real Estate and Fine Arts.

In 1996 she moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with the goal of returning to painting and the arts. She started teaching adult painting classes and continues to hold weekly classes as well as specific workshops.

Her paintings, now primarily focused on water and life living in and on it, have evolved through these last 21 years. She is still drawn to ethnic people and unique views of life around her. Her use of color and keen eye make her subjects come alive and live. Her primary focus at the moment is exploring the newly discovered world of underwater reflections.

Originaria del Sur de Lousiana y casada con un canadiense, Cherie vive seis meses al año en Okanagan, Columbia Británica, y seis meses en Puerto Vallarta, México. El arte ha sido el centro de su vida desde sus años de formación. Recibió con honores una Licenciatura en Artes Finas de la Universidad de Louisiana. Su carrera ha incluído diseño gráfico (antes y después del advenimiento de las computadoras), Dirección de Arte, Marketing, Bienes raíces y artes finas.

En 1996 se mudó a Puerto Vallarta, México con la meta de regresar a la pintura y las artes. Comenzó dando clases de pintura para adultos y continúa impartiendo clases semanales así como talleres específicos.

Sus pinturas, ahora primordialmente enfocadas en el agua y la vida en ella o sobre ella, han evolucionado a través de éstos últimos 21 años. Todavía se siente atraída hacia pueblos étnicos así como por formas únicas de vida alrededor de ella. Su uso del color así como su ojo entrenado hacen que sus temas se sientan vivos. Su primordial enfoque al momento está explorando el recién descubierto mundo de reflejos bajo el agua.
